Our Training & Placement Team had the opportunity to interview our proud alumna Manisha Bhatt, a graduate of the Department of Nutrition & Healthcare Science, Manas College, from the 2021–24 batch. During her time at Manas College, she was not only sincere about her academics but also actively involved in extracurricular activities and cultural programmes. Her enthusiasm, creativity and willingness to take part in college activities made her an energetic and valued member of the Manas family. In this interaction, she shared her experiences at Manas College and the role her college years played in developing her confidence, personality and professional outlook. Her journey shows that college life is not only about earning a degree; it is about discovering one’s potential, developing skills, building confidence and creating memories that keep inspiring long after graduation.

How has Manas College contributed to your academic and personal growth during your course?

Manas College helped me a lot in building my academic base as well as my personal development, through detailed academic preparation during classes. Along with academic study, it also helped me learn more about my field. The workshops, live interactions with dieticians and hospital visits helped a lot in getting practical, real-life experience of the field. Beyond academics, there were personality development classes that focused on our body language, eye contact, non-verbal communication and communication skills. Interviews by professors and group discussions with our classmates under the supervision of professors, with an evaluation of our performance at the end, helped a lot in developing our personal skills. These skills are not only required to crack an interview but also to deal with patients as well as clients. I am very thankful to Manas College for helping me create a strong foundation in my field.

Can you share your experience with the faculty and how their guidance supported your learning?

My experience with the faculty was really good; it is one of the best things I remember. My teachers not only helped me with my academic studies but also motivated me to grow in my career and improve my personality through presentations and encouragement for continuous participation. Even after completing my graduation, they are there to help me, and I freely ask them my queries. Their guidance helps me better understand the nutrition field and the pathways we can follow after this course.

How did the practical exposure, such as hospital visits, workshops, hands-on sessions and your internship, help you understand real-world healthcare?

Practical exposure and hospital visits gave me a much better understanding of real-life experience in our field. In academic learning alone, we could not fully know what exactly our role is and how we have to put this knowledge into practice. We got answers to all these questions through our internship, workshops and hospital visits. We applied our knowledge during the internship and got an idea of how things work through hospital visits. It also helped me fill the gap between education and its real-life application.

Did the college play a role in helping you secure your internship or placement?

Yes, our Director sir, as well as the whole college staff, worked very hard to provide us with internships as well as jobs. In today’s world, almost every post or job we apply for requires a 6-month internship from a well-reputed hospital. Our college provided us with an internship at a government hospital, which offers real-life experience with a large number of patients with different conditions, different wards, written work and direct interaction with patients.

How has your journey at Manas College prepared you for your future goals?

Our college faculty and leadership worked together to organise different programmes in which we participated, including several personality development classes where we had to perform activities. All these activities, continuous participation in events and the awards we received for participating made me confident from within and ready to face challenges ahead.
